Archive Folders make your archive files appear as regular file system folders in Windows Explorer. This makes it very easy to work with archives: you can browse inside your archives just as if they were regular folders! You won't have to learn how to use a new archive application at all.
The following operations are supported on Archive Folders:
Dragging files inside an archive, to add them to a virtual archive folder
Dragging files out of an archive, to extract them to a real folder
Viewing/updating files inside a virtual archive folder
Copying/pasting files inside a virtual archive folder, which transparently extracts/compresses files
File searches automatically search inside archives as well, if your operating system is Windows XP, or a newer version
In addition, the following tasks are available through the Archive Tasks pane, which appears automatically when you browse into an Archive Folder. Just click the link for the desired action:
Adding files
Extracting files
Installing applications contained inside archives
Checking out program files and documents contained inside archives
Scanning archives for viruses
Converting archives from one type to another
Running plug-in defined tools on archives
